Tools To Find The Best Time To Post On Social Media

Sometimes general answers are all we need. Sometimes what works for one person will work for the next as well. But what if you could find specific information that spoke directly to you and your audience? It was tailored for you and only you? Which would you prefer: general or tailored? 

There have been countless articles written about the best time for you to post updates on your social media outlets. But these articles are very general - they incorporate multiple industries, specific timezones, and other basic statistics. They are an OK framework to go off of, but there are some FREE tools out there that can show you the best time for you (yes, YOU and only you!) to post on Facebook and Twitter.

 

I'm going to highlight my two favorite resources today to help you not only connect with your specific audience in a more specific way, but also get what you have to say in front of more eyes. 

 

TWERIOD FOR TWITTER

Tweriod gives you the best time to tweet for your specific audience. They have analytics for both your tweets and your followers' tweets, which helps you know when it makes the most sense for you to share information. 

While there are many tools out there that do this very thing, what makes Tweriod my favorite is that it connects directly to your Buffer account so it will update your ideal times to your Buffer schedule. It's easy, fast, and effective. 

 

I'm all about sharing resources that have a free option and Tweriod does have that. But you are limited to just one free update per month. Their paid options are very reasonably priced and are worth every penny.  

 

FACEBOOK INSIGHTS  

Much like Twitter, there are other options out there to find the best time to post on Facebook. But I like to go right to the horses mouth on this one. Facebook Insights are a virtual treasure trove of information. Finding the best time to post on Facebook hasn't always been a feature within Insights, so I am thrilled that they now offer it. 

Simply go to the top of your admin panel on your Facebook Page and you will see a box in the lower middle half of your admin panel called "Insights." Click on the "see more" button.

This will take you to the Overview page of your Insights. On the top row of page options you will see "Posts." Click on that option.

There is a wealth of information here that we will talk about in a future post, but today we are going to focus on the "When Your Fans Are Online" option. Click on that page.

Once you click on the "When Your Fans Are Online" option you will find specifically tailored information regarding when your fans are online and the best times to post. It's a fantastic graph of information. See an example below:

As you can see, this graph shows you the average number of your fans who saw any posts on Facebook in an hour. This particular graph shows the average, but we will get into more specifics in a sec. We can also see here that Tuesdays seem to be the best days to post. But I circled what I would consider three of the best times to generally post your updates on Facebook. But we can get even more specific.

We can actually highlight specific days to see how that particular day measures up to the average time fans saw your posts. As you can see from the image above, the best time to post fluctuates from day to day. This information helps you determine when you should schedule your posts from day to day, which is incredibly helpful, and will help you make the most out of every post. 

Another great feature to Facebook Insights is that they show you what types of posts your fans respond to and engage with the most.

As you can see from the image above, status posts for this particular Page are the highest, but photos get the most engagement and clicks by a landslide.   

This information is updated weekly on your Facebook Page, so be sure to visit it regularly and update your Buffer or HootSuite schedules so you can post at the best time. 

By using this information you can insure that you are posting when your fans are actually online. This is tailored information specifically for your audience, which is gold! Take advantage of it!
